Fountain of Life

Water seeketh level lowest
but we seeketh level highest.
– Chito L. Aguilar

FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
(Water seeketh level lowest
but we seeketh level highest.)

water we are,
restless.
not content to be contained
we hasten to overflow
in trickles and torrents,
in drips and spurts.

we rise in rush.
to the sky we gush
(but never reach it),
squirting up
in swish and swoosh–
rushing, gushing.

then,
by the shifting shades
of color spotlights
we fall with a splash;
in due time crash
when gravity pulls us down
to our gashing bowl…
we smash back to

our reality, our humanity!

– between
rising and falling
is pause.

  1. The beauty of your words, Chito, makes me read them and re-read them. Perfect musical selection to enhance the realities of life.

P.S.: Love the photos, as you know by now I have a great affinity for water.

    • Many, many thanks to you, my very dear friend!

To me, the metaphoric link between water and man is classic.
Among the elements, water is very unique, as it seeks its own level.
Hence, it is a leveler; we are humbled by water. As water assumes
the shape of its container, so too, must we conform with life’s churns.

      P.S.: Yes my dear, your affinity for water is evident;
even the header photo of your blog is Water; such a clear beauty!
And the fluidity of your photography is reminiscent of water.

      • Curiously, I am a Taurus–an Earth person. Yet the Earth could not possibly be beautiful without Water.

Thirty years ago, in Florence, I was able to see original pages of Leonardo’s “Codex Hammer’ (now known as Codex Leicester), in which he sketched and wrote about water and it’s movement. I seriously began to study water after that magnificent experience.

Have a good week over there, mi amigo!

      • I see. I’m an Earth person too; a Capricorn (the Goat).
That explains my being down-to-earth; feet-on-ground.
And yet, I feel drawn to the water element also.

Shine on, mi amiga! Flow free, as water.
