Rain

“Into each life some rain must fall.”

– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807 – 1882)

RAIN
(Heaven, by rain must drain
Earth, by grain must regain
and Man, by pain must gain.)

fall rain ambient
from canopy ancient
to drench this parched
soil of toil.

soak the world
and dampen
its timeless appetite for
dream of cream.

douse hot spores
of tempest in man’s heart
to cease this
cult of tumult.

flood the gate of dominion
with waters of ardor
that we may live
better, not bitter.

– rain
is between
gloom and bloom.

– pain
is between
doom and boom.
