Eden Gone

“Earth hath no sorrow
that heaven cannot heal.”

– Attributed to Thomas Moore
(1779 -1852), Irish poet

EDEN GONE
(Heaven sent; earth spent.)

the amberglow of sunset
is the afterglow of you.

you, who eloped with the sun
fading in the twilight
disappearing
in shifting shades (of dusk);

in the gathering dust of darkness,
gone

but remembered.

– December 10, 2003

(between
forgetting and remembering
is you.

between
remembering and forgetting
is me.)

– memory
is between
you and me.
