A Summer Fling

“It is a difficult thing for a man to resist
the natural necessity of mortal passions.”

– Plutarch (46? – 120?), Greek philosopher

“Are those your eyes?
Is that your smile?
I’ve been looking at you forever
But I never saw you before
Are these your hands holding mine?
Now I wonder how I could have been so blind
For the first time I am looking in your eyes …”

– fr. lyrics of  For the First Time, Kenny Loggins

A SUMMER FLING
(with a Raving Raven from the haven of sands)

eyes alluring, though ominously fierce
torrid stares so subtle, like daggers pierce
cauldron-hot rose, to me so magnetized
evade I can’t, by her charms hypnotized.

the passion (mutual), flaring like fireworks
excited, we vent lust where the road forks
ravenous spiders now clash in my brains
albeit (in webs tangled), the fling remains!

– April 1999

– a fling
is between
potion and poison.
