A Boat Trip to Masbate Island

“Strange fits of passion I have known:
And I will dare to tell,
But in the lover’s ear alone,
What once to me befell.”

– William Wordsworth (1770 – 1850)

(A recollection of a casual but memorable visit
to my father’s birthplace and hometown;
one nostalgic trip to my roots I find significant.)

(prelude) March 27, 2003
a tryst with thirst tried my ire
the trip to isle, not my fire
bored on board she caught my eye
sea turned high when she said, “Hi.”

melt I did when I felt her smiles
wild not mild we plied the miles
our arms entwined, time twirled by
then at the pier we bade goodbye.

(interlude) April to July 2003
“… I will dare to tell, but in the lover’s ear alone.”

– between
hi and bye
is prelude.

– between
bye and hi
is interlude.
