You Dwell

“I close my eyes only for a moment and the moment’s gone
All my dreams pass before my eyes a curiosity
Dust in the wind.  All we are is dust in the wind.”

– fr. lyrics of  Dust in the Wind, Kansas

YOU DWELL
(for Ludwin R., 1978)

you left a strand of hair on my shoulder;
unmistakably yours (as it was long and wavy) –
i tried to brush it with my fingers
it would not leave my shirt;
statically attached
like you, to me.

you left a kiss on my lips;
obviously yours (as it tasted of you) –
i tried to wipe it with my palm
it would not disappear;
permanently imprinted
like you, in my mind.

you left your heart in me;
certainly yours (as it beats
one with my heart).

you and me then,
iris and irid
in the eye of love.

– between
you and me
is lament.

(c) 1978 Chito L. Aguilar
