Andres Bonifacio

“The famous warrior famoused for fight,
After a thousand victories once foil’d,
Is from the book of honour razed quite,
And all the rest forgot for which he toil’d.”

– William Shakespeare (1564 -1616)

(Hero or Victim?)

the Supremo
founder of the Katipunan
fearless hero
leader kataas-taasan

he raised bolo
to fight colonial oppression
he died so-so
by the end of revolution

the head of his rival faction
who ordered his execution

his shrine, razed in demolition
his memento
now on the road to perdition?

this poor indio
his story has no conclusion
victim of the revolution?

(must he have retribution?)

– between hero and victim is history.
