Amber Fire

“When beer is in,
the wit is out.”

– Anonymous

“The moment two bubbles
are united, they both vanish.
A lotus blooms.”

– Kijo Murakami (1865-1938)

AMBER FIRE
(Ooze the booze, push the blues.)

the fire of summer
is your breath of amber!
filled by golden tipple
your tummy turns bulge.
fueled by molten fizzle
your tongue churns words.

amber fire: bile and vile.

(when chilled bubbles of gold tipples
graze the tongue and grate the belly
dry mind fumbles, wet wit topples
body stumbles: ah, what folly!)

– between
tipple and topple
is bottle.

– between
bottle and battle
is trouble.
